Thoughts on the Motorola Droid

I have owned the Motorola Droid for four weeks now. The 3G speeds on Verizon are so fast I rarely use the built in WiFi at home. The Motorla Droid has replaced my Dell Studio 1530 as my couch machine of choice in front of the TV. I use it for e-mail and Twitter.

What about your iPhone 3GS?

Honestly the Motorola Droid does a poor job with media. The Camera is horrible and downloading music and podcasts is slow and cumbersome. I hope it improves soon. I am looking at you Google.

Media is something the iPhone 3GS does extremely well and I use it for downloading music, podcasts and streaming ESPN Radio and NBA games at home on WiFi. The iPhone is a champion of Media!

Spring 2010?

Yes I will get a Nexus one once its on Verizon. Until then its just an expensive paperweight on T-Mobile.

Happy MMX (2010)

Looking forward to 2010 I can say that 2009 was a great for me. Technology wise I can now watch NBA Games Live on my iPhone 3GS or my Morotola Droid. Yes I bought a Droid after I won my Fantasy Football League on ESPN.

The Motorola Droid

I bought the Motorola Droid for the speed of the Verizon Network, in the last two months of 2009 you may have noticed the commercials advertising the speed and coverage of Verizon's 3G coverage versus AT&T, Verizon is faster.

AT&T

AT&T Service drops calls and the 3G Network is slow. I have four phones on the AT&T Network. If and when the iPhone is on Verizon I am switching away from AT&T, immediately.

HSDPA

High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is an enhanced 3G (third generation) mobile technology, the High-Speed Packet Access is equivalent to a in home DSL (3mbps - 7mbps). Eventually these networks will replace 3G, this first carrier to offer this will dominate. I am betting it will be Verizon.

The Google Phone aka "Nexus One."

Google will announce the availability their own mobile phone on January 5, 2010. It will be the HTC Dragon/Passion. Its name will be the Nexus One. It will have a very big screen, as big as the iPhone, and a faster processor, faster than the Motorola Droid. However it will be on T-Mobile. T-Mobile is the slowest network in North America, slower than AT&T. So with that its dead to me.

Apple Tablet. January 26, 2010 Announcement!

Is 26 years after the announcement of the original Mac in 1984 also in January. It will happen, I will have one, yes I will.
